How Embassy and Visa Document Couriers Actually Work

A passport in the post is a passport you can't track properly, can't guarantee arrives on a specific day, and can't easily prove was handed to a specific person if something goes wrong. For most parcels that's an acceptable risk. For a visa application with an appointment deadline attached, it usually isn't. Here's what actually happens when you use a courier for embassy and visa documents, and why it's a different process to a normal delivery.

Royal Mail and standard parcel couriers are built around volume: thousands of items sorted through depots and delivered to a general address, often left with a neighbour or in a safe place if no one answers.
